Creating Generational Well-Being with James Hughes

Much of what we talk about with wealth and wisdom is rooted in family. By nurturing those relationships and focusing on those closest to us, we’re able to make an impact well beyond our lifetime.

James E. Hughes is an author who has advised families for five decades and facilitated multigenerational family meetings. Having ready his books and listened to him speak, we found that much of what he talks about really resonates. He defines wealth by using its true meaning of well-being but does a great job of explaining how financial capital, spiritual capital, and social capital all have a purpose for creating that for a family.

Today he joins the show to share some of the wisdom he’s gained through the years and give us an idea of how each of us can approach the idea of generational well-being.

Join us on today’s episode as we discuss these important topics and more:

  • How does James define wealth? (3:27)
  • Explaining the adage of shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves (13:00)
  • What you need to priority with your family. (22:00)
  • The three patterns we see too often in planning. (30:27)
  • The next steps you can take to help your family flourish. (33:32)
